John Boehner Voicemail Fail (AUDIO)

John Boehner Voicemail Fail (AUDIO)

Speaker Boehner’s office must be fielding thousands of phone calls today since the government shutdown began at midnight. I am sure the staffers are overwhelmed, but it might behoove them to change their voice mail choices when they are likely to be fielding calls from angry Americans. For this recording, I chose number three. Download File He calls the sequester the “President’s sequester” but the sequestration cuts were mandated by law. A law that had broad bi-partisan support. According to Bob Woodward: No one thought it would happen. The idea was to design something … that was so onerous that no one would ever let it happen. Of course, it did, because they couldn’t reach agreement. Yes, that is Speaker Boehner after President Obama was re-elected stating that it is the law of the land, and yet he goes on to oversee over 40 attempts at repealing it. But, alas, I digress. The IRS scandal, otherwise known as the scandal that never was, had the IRS supposedly targeting right-wing groups when processing 501c4 applications. The problem is, they were looking for both right and left-wing organizations. Abuse of power by the Obama Administration? Not hardly. Though it is interesting to note that Darryl Issa (R-CA) brought in a significant increase in campaign donations from April 1 to June 30 of this year according to USA Today. Speaker Boehner can claim whatever his corporate sponsors tell him to but the facts tell us otherwise. The only abuse of power here is with the Republicans. They have been looking for a reason to shut down the government since 2010 and they are delighted that they finally got to do it. Those of us affected by the shutdown have a slightly different opinion.
