GOP Gov: Obama 'hates white people'

GOP Gov: Obama 'hates white people'

Gov. Paul LePageFollowing the never ending trend of anti-Obama rhetoric, a Republican governor told a group of supporters that President Obama "hates white people."
During a private Republican Party fundraiser on Aug. 12, Republican governor of Maine, Gov. Paul LePage, told the group of supporters that the president simply hates white people. According to the Portland Press Herald, two Republican lawmakers, who wish to remain anonymous for the fear of political backlash, confirmed the statement made by the governor. The Herald noted that LePage stated that he thought President Obama could have been the best president ever if he "highlighted his biracial heritage," but claimed the president refused to do this because he "hates white people."
One of the Republican lawmakers made it clear he thought it was wrong of the governor to say what he did.
"Yeah, he said it...It was one little thing from a speech, but I think most people there thought it was totally inappropriate."
Other Republicans in attendance say they don't remember the governor making such an outrageous statement. After the comments were made public to the news media, Brent Littlefield, the governor's senior political adviser, released a statement denying the comments allegedly made by the governor.
“It seems farfetched for anyone, even a newspaper, to make an insinuation the governor is racist given his life history."
As the Herald points out, Gov. LePage has had a history of making questionable comments in the past including comparing the IRS to the Gestapo, the Nazi police and telling the NAACP to "kiss my butt" after declining an invitation to an event hosted by the NAACP in Portland.
