Thank You Tea Party – A Letter From A Liberal Voter

Remember back in 2000 when Al Gore won the popular vote but the Supreme Court decided that George W. Bush would be president anyway? Progressives were pissed. But we dealt with it. Yes, we were loud and yes, we couldn’t stand what was happening, but we really didn’t realize the damage that would be done to this country. We figured we’d get through it and elect a Democrat the next time around.
Then Bush decided to invade Iraq. In fact, an article just came out that said the real reason we invaded Iraq is because we wanted to kick some ass. Of course, the real reason was oil. We wanted to establish a military presence and control the oil. Rarely does a new president get elected while we are in a war. So it was another 4 more years with Dubya.
In those 8 years, we were force-fed fear and hate. FOX “News” took off and so did the likes of Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity and Bill O’Reilly. Ann Coulter made a nice living promoting her venomous hate and blatant racism. We saw many high terror alerts. Wasn’t it funny how those alerts would coincide with events that the Bush administration didn’t really want us to focus on? That was convenient.
I remember some conservative co-workers talking about how they liked Bush as president because they felt safer. LOLOLOLOLOL. What a crock of shit, but people believe what they want to believe. If Bush was so intent on hunting down Bin Laden and getting him “dead or alive,” why did he later say he say “I don’t know where he is. I just don’t spend that much time on him…”
The reason I am writing to you and the reason I am thanking you is because after George Bush was finished up with his 8 years of pretending to have a clue about anything, people in this country were pissed. I mean really pissed because his cherry-on-top was a tanked economy. People were losing their homes and jobs were drying up.
But there was a silver lining.
That silver lining of the Bush administration was Barack Hussein Obama. The first black man to be the President of the United States of America. We’ll never really know if we would have seen a black president that soon if it hadn’t been for Bush, but who cares??? We did! And it was freaking EPIC! If you happened to be one of the electorate who voted for McCain/Palin, you might have missed the celebrations happening across the globe. People all over the WORLD were celebrating. AND THEN, our black president KILLED BIN LADEN. Not Bush. It happened on Obama’s watch. Just like he promised he would do when he ran for president.
Tea Party leaders like to say that they got into office because the people spoke.
Sorry! WRONG.
The Tea Party got elected because young Democratic voters didn’t bother to SHOW UP in 2010 and thus allowed the Tea Party evangelical fake patriots to get in. Just like when you don’t properly seal food goods and those little bugs creep in. It’s really the same thing. You weren’t chosen. You found your way in through a dark crack. This is the fault of progressive voters who stayed home. It was apathy that allowed for the Tea Party lunatics to gain control of the House.
In January 2011 you guys GOT BUSY! One of your main focuses was women’s rights – from equal pay to choice to protection from domestic violence. You guys were on a rampage! Your poster boy and self-appointed leader, Rush Limbaugh, called Sandra Fluke a slut, and that was the bullhorn we all needed to say WTF??? Your darling Limbaugh really helped wake Americans up to the things we ignore when we are comfortable. See, Tea Party peeps, when people are comfortable, they overlook things and for DECADES, we overlooked the fact that women are not recognized as equal in the Constitution. And now, because of you, we have a new movement to ratify the last three states needed, and we will see the Equal Rights Amendment fully ratified. It may have just lain there, ignored for decades, but with all your anti-women legislation, we woke up and now we are not letting it go.
Tea Party leaders made sure that obstruction of progress was their number one priority. Your skewed thinking is that if you guys fought against the good of Americans in areas like job creation, health care and economic equality, we’d all blame Obama. HA, wrong again! Social media has really helped us spread the truth of your obstruction. So your ass was kicked in 2012. But you still kept the House, thanks to your gerrymandering of districts.
My thank you is really two-fold. With all the government hostage-taking, the piss-poor “leadership” of Speaker of the house John Boehner and his inability to figure out that people are more important than Ted Cruz, the majority of Americans who see through this whole fake patriot bullshit have decided the Tea Party is OVER. And it is PRECISELY because YOU EXIST that we will see a woman take on the highest position in this country. Yeppers, you guessed it – HILLARY CLINTON. She will be YOUR Commander In Chief because you guys are freaking nuts!

Thank you Sarah Palin for putting a face to the movement. You betcha, we’re all thankful. Thank you Marco Rubio for just being you. Thank you Rush Limbaugh for your boorish tirades against reality. Thank you Michele Bachmann and Rand Paul and Ted Cruz and Rick Perry and Eric Cantor and Paul Ryan. Because of your complete lack of empathy for human beings and your desire to force your morality onto the vast majority who happen to think y’all are insane, you have sealed the deal. More than likely, we will see a Democratic takeover in 2014 and keep it until 2020. We’ve been uncomfortable, thanks to you and we won’t forget.
The best part about it is that you guys are like an out-of-control freight train, and it doesn’t look like your re-branding ideas are going to happen either. Even though we are all getting banged up right now, it will be repaired once sanity is back in the House. We’ll see single-payer healthcare and you’re not only going to use it, you’re going to LOVE it – eventually. We are going to see equality for gays and blacks and women and we’re going to make sure the Supreme Court is progressive. No more of this idea that America no longer has race problems. We will see Justices who work for the benefit of the people.
So THANK YOU TEA PARTY!!! You woke America up and pointed out all the dark areas that we were neglecting for far too long.
Say it with me – President Hillary Clinton. BWAHAHAHAHA!!!! It’s AWESOME. Thanks!!!
