This column will count down the top five celebrities rumored to be in the closet. We will start out with Fox News Anchor and Tea Party favorite, Bill O'Reilly.
Bill O'Reilly has compared gay people to Al Qaida and has spoken out against gay rights several times on his show. But there are people who think Bill, himself, has danced with Dorothy. For one thing, Mr. O'Reilly wasn't married until his late forties. His marriage, however, is anything but typical.In 2004, Bill O'Reilly settled with a co-worker after tapes allegedly revealed that he uses a dildo and vibrator on himself. Not that we are judging, but do straight men really use vibrators and dildos on themselves? Bill O'Reilly Tries to Sell His Roots as Working Class - Again

Bill O'Reilly has been revving up the insanity during the implementation of Obamacare and Tuesday's Factor was no different. Heather beat me to his outrageous claims that millions and millions of people who need food stamps are druggies and drunks, and he had a Catholic priest on to say Jesus definitely wouldn't want a national health care plan.
He actually had guests on to debate that issue.
It's crazy, I know, but that's the state of Fox News. Another fallacy Bill O. brought to the table was that his parents were poor indeed when he was growing up. Over the years Bill O'Reilly has always tried to characterize his upbringing as that of a typical-poor working-class stiff, but nothing could be farther from the truth. While debating the stupid question of 'would Jesus support a nanny state,' he attacked poor people who needed government assistance like food stamps while saying his parents were poor too, but always managed to put food on the table.

O'Reilly: Some of the people who don't have enough to eat, it's their fault particularly with their children and this is where it really becomes dicey. If you’re an addict or a drug addict and you can’t hold a job, and you can’t support your children, […] then it's your fault you’re bringing the havoc. You’re asking people who may be struggling themselves to put food on the table to give their tax money to you, […] and then you’re going to buy booze and drugs with it...because there's no government regulation with it and that's my problem.

O'Reilly: My parents didn't make a lot of money and they were able to put food on the table and I'm just seeing a system that's creating dependence.

Back in the fifties and sixties, his father was an accountant who commuted to NYC everyday from Long Island and made up to 35,000.00 dollars a year as per Bill. If we adjust that to modern dollars, you'll see his father was making a roughly very good living indeed.

$35,000 in 1965 would be $255,100 in 2013.

BIll O'Reilly moved to Long Island in 1951 so if his father was making 20,000 dollars in 1965 then it would calculate out to 148K dollars of buying power in 2013.
Any person who needs to lie about his background is pretty sick to begin with. Sprinkle in a egomaniacal personality, and you have Bill.
Now let's define what 'working class" really means. Here's one definition.

The socioeconomic class consisting of people who work for wages, especially low wages, including unskilled and semiskilled laborers and their families.

The working class typifies people that do manual labor to survive. Working as an accountant is not considered manual labor, but a highly skilled job. Why the lie, BillO?

It is no secret that Bill O'Reilly is an ass of gigantic proportions. However, in a segment on last night's O'Reilly Factor, Bill manages to outdo his own gigantic assiness. In response to recent Republican efforts to dismantle SNAP and the new-found Vatican's concern for the poor, Rep. Jim McDermott (D-WA) made a comment in a conversation with Al Sharpton that when Jesus fed five thousand people with five loaves of bread and two fish, “he didn’t charge food stamps.”
This made Bill O' ooh so mad and he simply wasn't going to stand for it. Letting his hatred for all things perceived as "nanny state" fly, he graciously acknowledged that Jesus would be just fine with feeding the poors so long as it didn't inconvenience anyone with actual money.
In a conversation with Pentecostal Pastor Joshua Dubois, Bill tries to school the good pastor on all those alcoholics and drug addicts picking his pocket for free food. In actuality, it was Pastor Dubois who schooled O'Reilly. The video and juicier bits of the conversation transcribed below.

O'Reilly: The problem I have, as I stated is that you’re helping one group by hurting another group and a bigger group, and so I don’t know if Jesus is going to be down with that. Dubois: Jesus would be down for the poor. He would want to make sure every single person in this country had enough food to eat. And the bottom line is if you add up every single private charitable dollar that feeds hungry people in this country, it’s only 10 percent of what we would need to make sure everyone has food in their stomachs. The rest comes from the federal government.
O'Reilly: You’re making a powerful argument, but there is one huge mistake in it. And that is that some of the people who don’t have enough to eat, it’s their fault they don’t have enough to eat. Particularly with their children.
If you’re an alcoholic or heroin addict or a drug addict and you can’t hold a job, alright, and you can’t support your children — and that’s a circumstance of millions and millions of people, not most, but a lot, a substantial minority — then it’s your fault, you’re bringing the havoc, that you’re asking people who may be struggling themselves to put food on the table to give their tax money to you. And then you’re not even going to buy food with it, you’re going to buy booze and drugs with it.
Dubois: With all due respect, there’s a lot of misconceptions in what you just said. The vast majority of that program goes to elderly people, people who are disabled, 46 percent are children and most people are working families.
O'Reilly: My parents didn’t make a lot of money and they were able to put food on the table. I give a lot of money — and you probably know this — to children’s charities, okay? Children who have derelict parents. And I say, it’s not the kids’ fault so I’m going to give the money to the kids. But I don’t give it to charities unless the charity hands it to the kids, gets it right to the kids. So, I’m circumventing the drugs and the alcohol and the other craziness, alright?
Dubois: I don’t live in a derelict country. There are some folks that have the problems that you described, but that is not the vast majority of food stamp recipients.

I have to applaud Pastor Dubois for standing up to O'Reilly so pointedly. O'Reilly only served to come off as the cruel, heartless Republican he is. In his mind and in the mind of so many Republicans, being poor is just exactly what you deserve for having the audacity to be poor. In order to expunge his putrid soul for these uncharitable thoughts, he must convince himself that these people are subhuman addicts not worthy of wiping his shoes on. I am not a Christian and I do not pretend to speak for Jesus and how he would have felt about food stamps, but having read a great deal what he was purported to have stood for, I'm pretty sure that Bill O'Reilly has this exactly wrong.

Bill O’Reilly Might Have Just Made the Dumbest Statement About Liberals I’ve Ever Seen Him Make

As a liberal, it goes without saying I rarely agree with anything Bill O’Reilly says.  In fact, I think he’s a giant blowhard who doesn’t even believe half the crap he says.  While he champions his show to be “spin free,” anyone with half a brain knows that line is complete garbage.
An obviously biased host, hosting a show geared toward conservatives on a news network that’s blatantly conservative—that’s the definition of “spin.”  But then again this is the network with the slogan “Fair and Balanced,” while being neither.
Over the years I’ve seen O’Reilly make plenty of asinine comments, but one of his most recent might just take the cake.
See, O’Reilly is claiming that liberals can’t say “Obamacare” has flaws or is bad, because if we did — we’d have to admit “liberalism” is a failure.
He said:

“To admit that it is not good for the county would be to admit that big government is not good therefore liberalism is not good.”

Seriously?
Let’s just point out the obvious.  If “Obamacare” is the be all end all of “liberalism,” then what the hell do the Bush Tax Cuts say about Republican economic ideology and trickle-down economics?
Remember, these tax cuts were sold to the American people on the promise that they would balance the budget within ten years and bring us great economic prosperity.  Instead we ended up massively growing our deficits, doubling our national debt and our economy faced the worst recession in nearly a century.


If the glitches “Obamacare” has experienced “prove” liberalism is a failure, then the Bush Tax Cuts undoubtedly prove that trickle-down economics (and therefore the entire Republican economic ideology) is an epic disaster.
Oh, and let’s also not forget that “Obamacare” is actually a Republican idea.  That’s right.  What liberals really want is a single-payer system.  The reason why “Obamacare” is built how it is stems from the conservative opposition to real socialized health care.  In the 90′s when Clinton tried to get real universal health care passed, Republicans proposed an individual mandate to purchase insurance as opposed to a single-payer full-blown universal health care system.
Then, in 2006, a Republican governor by the name of Mitt Romney actually passed “Romneycare,” of which the Affordable Care Act is nearly a clone.
Basically what I’m saying is, Bill O’Reilly is completely full of crap.
Most people are well aware that the Affordable Care Act isn’t flawless.  Hell, President Obama has admitted it isn’t.  But it’s a starting place to push forward.  As problems arise, we find ways to fix those issues.
That’s just called common sense.  If we used Republican “logic” toward another issue — the iPhone, for instance — Apple should have just scrapped the iPhone 4 the moment “Antennagate” was discovered.  Because trust me, when that issue arose, it was a huge deal.  Instead Apple fixed the issue, and the phone went on to be one of the most popular phones ever sold.
Besides, “Obamacare” isn’t “government-controlled” health care.  Medicare would be government-controlled health care.  You know, a program that’s very popular with seniors.


“Obamacare” is simply a law that states insurance companies must provide certain types of coverages and Americans must purchase some kind of health insurance plan.  The “flaws” really lie with insurance companies and their handling of the law.  It’s their greed that’s caused premiums to be artificially inflated.  It’s their greed that’s caused them to drop many Americans from their current plans.
Greed, as in a for-profit health care system, is what’s wrong with “Obamacare.”
If liberals got what we really wanted, the issues with “Obamacare” wouldn’t exist.  The problem is, President Obama based his health care law around a Republican plan.  And the truth is, that was his real mistake with the Affordable Care Act.
Something you won’t see fools like Bill O’Reilly ever admit to.

Aside from that, anyone is free to call anybody anything they want. It's called free speech or the First Amendment to the Constitution.
You're also "bearing false witness" about the administrators of this page, who are two Registered Independents and two Registered Republicans, who, as with Bob Dole, John McCain, Colin Powell, Bush's David Frum, etc., are tired of right-wing extremism such as yours doing damage to the Republican brand....speaking of which...
You're not only caught "red handed spreading satan's work" with your own lies by misquoting people, but you stoop to the very UnChristian and primitive emotionalism by evoking an ancient iron-age fairy tale (satan) that your alleged "all-knowing, all-creator" created, yet "knew" people of your low caliber would sin nevertheless.
An alleged "god" who "creates" an "eternal lake of fire", is no god, but a monster that would make Hitler's torture chambers appear like playgrounds...oh wait...your alleged "god" also "created" Hitler.

A Republican congressman actually argued that Obamacare is as bad as the Fugitive Slave Act

1. On Fox TV, it is assumed that the Nicaraguan meteorologist knows all about tacos.

It’s fairly obvious by now that Fox News is a place where being offensive and ignorant is not just permitted, but encouraged. For example: How much fun is it to make fun of someone’s ethnic heritage inaccurately? So much fun. In an exchange that is indistinguishable from schoolyard bullying and outright nincompoop-ism, Fox News host Brian Kilmeade on Friday said he assumed that the network’s Latina meteorologist “grew up on tacos,” because she is from a Spanish-speaking country, and of course, they are all the same.
Being the multi-ethnic bastion that it is, Fox & Friends featured a segment on making tacos to celebrate National Taco Day. Kilmeade turned to Fox News Weather team member Maria Molina, who was born in Nicaragua and grew up in South Florida and asked, “So what are the tips we need to know? You grew up on tacos, correct?”
“No, I did not grow up on tacos!” Molina snapped. “I’m Nicaraguan. It’s not a native food.”
Does she really think that these people are educable?
2. Poor Ted Cruz: first a Republican “lynch mob” is after him, and then Democrats hurt his feelings.
Some Republicans are very mad at Ted Cruz, whose antics against Obamacare spiraled into the impasse that became the government shutdown, which is beginning to play very badly for the GOP. So on Wednesday, a group of Senate Republicans, including Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, railed against Cruz at a private luncheon, according to theNew York Times. Sen. Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire and Sen. Ron Johnson of Wisconsin were there as well, and some of these senators became very angry with Cruz’s intransigence, and lit into him. An unnamed senator described the scene thusly to the Times: “It just started a lynch mob.”
Lynch mob is a term that is being tossed around rather cavalierly these days, if you ask us. But then a lot of racially loaded terms are flying during the Obama administration, and anyone who thinks that is an accident is a fool. (See next item.)
Poor Ted Cruz was feeling really picked on all week, and not just by his own party. Democrats, he said at week’s end, are portraying him as the “root of all evil in the world.” How could they, when really everyone knows that Obamacare, or affordable healthcare, is the root of all evil in the world?

3. Rep. William O’Brien, R-N.H.: “Obamacare is as bad as Fugitive Slave Act.”
Obamacare, in the conservative echo-sphere, is the worst thing ever to befall mankind, and that is why it must at any cost be prevented, no matter how futile, ridiculous or damaging these actions may be. Rep. William O’Brien joined the anti-Obamacare hysteria this week with his racially tinged analogy comparing Obamacare to the Fugitive Slave Act of 1850, which made it against the law not to return runaway slaves to their owners. Hmmm, wonder why something slavery-related popped into his head to describe the signature legislation of the first black president.
Here’s how he justified his offensive comparison to the Manchester Union Leader: “Just as the Fugitive Slave Act was an overreach by the federal government, so too we understand that Obamacare is an assault on the rights of individuals.”
Oh, so nothing racial about it at all.
4. Rep. Todd Rokita, R-Ind.: Obamacare is the worst law known to man, pretty lady.

Crazed Republicans are really enjoying the attention they are getting what with the shutdown, and how they are saving the world from the abomination of Obamacare. Rep. Todd Nokita took full advantage of his moments in the sun this week, first when he said: “We just want to help the American people to get through one of the most insidious laws created by man, that is Obamacare.”

Please save us, Republican heroes.
Still enjoying the spotlight, Rokita mixed it up with CNN’s Carol Costello later in the week, again defending the shutdown as a small price to pay for saving America from the horror of affordable healthcare. Finally, he gave up on trying to explain this all to Costello, saying, “Carol, you’re beautiful, but you have to be honest as well.”
Mmmm, sexism. That’s hot.
5. Not to be outdone: Bill O’Reilly finally weighs in on Obamacare
It did not seem possible, but Fox News host Bill O’Reilly took fear-mongering to a new level on Thursday when he told viewers to think of President Obama’s healthcare law as a “vicious motorcycle gang” coming for their daughters.
Yeah, that’s right.
“It’s like this,” O’Reilly said. “Your teenager comes to you, saying she wants to attend a dance. You have some misgivings, but you say okay because she’s so passionate about the issue. Then you learn a vicious motorcycle gang may well show up at the dance, so you change your mind based upon best available evidence. And you protect your daughter from possible danger. Obamacare is like that.”
See?
6. Rafael Cruz (yep, Ted’s Dad): Obama’s on the side of the Muslims.
Ted Cruz is not the only member of his family with political aspirations and a talent for crazy talk. Speaking at a GOP rally in Adams County, Colo., Ted’s dad, right-wing pastor Rafael Cruz said: “So Barack Obama said: ‘If the winds shift, I will side with the Muslims.’ McCain couldn’t say that, because it’s not politically correct. It is time to stop being politically correct!”
What he really meant is it’s time to stop being correct at all, or to have your words reflect any sort of reality. That’s what time it is, America.
Then he made some more stuff up: “55 million babies have been murdered by abortion since 1973. At the other end, Obamacare, with denying care to the elderly, with care being rationed, with care being postponed for 12 to 18 months, with care being controlled by a group of bureaucrats, that on the basis of cost/benefit, will decide whether you get a medical procedure or not, they’re destroying our end of life. As a matter of fact, one of the things in Obamacare is that the elderly, every five years you must have end-of-life counseling. Translation: suicide counseling!”
Translation: Run, run ye Christians away from this terrible Muslim-imposed healthcare law.
7. Rick Joyner, Christian TV host: Time for God to impose martial law to save us from Obama’s tyranny.
There is only one way out of this pickle, the one imposed by the tyrannical Muslim-in-chief Obama. On his Monday Internet broadcast, Morning Star TV’s Rick Joyner predicted that democracy was “doomed,” doomed I tell you, unless the Lord imposed martial law.
Poor guy worked himself into quite a lather. “We’re headed for serious tyranny, a terrible tyranny right now. But guess what? The kingdom is coming, the Kingdom of God is coming.” And some more stuff, blah blah blah. Then: “That’s why I appeal to the Lord: Don’t let us be totally destroyed, please raise up those who will save us. And as I’ve been telling friends for a long time, no election is going to get the right person in there because the system is so broken.”
Therefore, God must stage a coup. That’s what needs to happen right now.
8. Pat Robertson to elderly woman viewer: It’s your fault your husband’s health his suffering.
Always willing to comfort his flock, Pat Robertson used his “700 Club” pulpit recently to set a woman straight about priorities. Retired and living on a small pension and Social Security pension, the woman was faced with the difficult decision of whether to give money to her church or pay her husband’s medical expenses.
This whole situation is all her fault, Robertson told her. Her husband is sick precisely because her contribution to the church has been inadequate, despite a lifetime of tithing.
“Your husband has all these medical problems because the ‘devour’ has not been rebuked,” Robertson explained. “You need to rebuke him. You give your tithes faithfully and God said, ‘I will rebuke the devour,’ the person that is eating up your money and eating up your health. So you want to be healthy? That’s a promise in the word.”
Comforting words.
9. Pennsylvania officials continue their rich history of offensive same-sex marriage analogies: This week, it’s pets and incest.
Back in August, lawyers for the state of Pennsylvania arguing against a clerk who was issuing same-sex marriage licenses suggested same-sex couples were like 12-year-old children. Governor Tom Corbett, on whose behalf the lawyers were arguing, tried to distance himself from those remarks in the ensuing kerfuffle. This week, on Wednesday, a like-minded county commissioner by the name of Tom Creighton who’s fighting tooth and nail against giving benefits to same-sex couples said: “I don’t feel the county should be looking for new ways to give away taxpayer money. Next it could be giving money out to people’s pets or whatever.”
On Friday, during an interview, Gov. Corbett opened his mouth and stuck his foot deep inside it, saying that while his lawyers’ (for whom taxpayers are paying $400 an hour) comparison of same-sex couples as children was inept, “I think a much better analogy would have been brother and sister, don’t you?” he said.
His interviewer declined to offer her assent, saying she’d leave the comments to “his team.”
By afternoon, Corbett was backpedaling and offering his version of an apology. It turns out he didn’t want to offend anyone, and if he did, he was sorry. He just wanted to give examples of categories of people who are ineligible for marriage.
Oh, okay. That makes it much better.
10. Hatefulness prize-winner of the week: Fox News’ Stuart Varney.
Fox News has been having a rollicking good time with the government shutdown. They think it’s the most wonderful thing. But it’s also the Democrats’ fault. Go figure. The first day of the shutdown, Hannity and friends marveled at how they were not feeling the effects of the shutdown at all. What was the big deal, anyway? Fox Business’ Todd Starnes chortled: “If you believe the Democrats, it’s time to go out and buy the potted meat and Tang and get in your survival bunker.”
Ha ha ha ha. Aren’t people who barely have enough money to eat so funny? And so fun to make fun of?
Later in the week, Varney was not in so good a mood. He was very, very angry, and not chortling anymore. He was angry at the more than 800,000 furloughed federal employees for having the audacity to want their back pay, so angry that he wants to “punish those people.”
“No, I don’t think they should get their back pay, frankly,” he said. “I really don’t. I’m sick and tired of a massive, bloated federal bureaucracy living on our backs, and taking money out of us, a lot more money than most of us earn in the private sector, then getting a furlough, and then getting their money back at the end of it. Sorry, I’m not for that. I want to punish these people. Sorry to say that, but that’s what I want to do.”

As reported in The Daily News, Fox News recently ran a poll asking its Republican viewers their opinions. The poll indicated that only 14% of Republicans support Obamacare. That is to be expected, but what makes this newsworthy is that the same people were asked if they supported the Affordable Care Act, and 22% said that they did!  This means that a full 8% of the people polled didn’t even know that the ACA and Obamacare are the exact same thing.
This brings up two questions. Why did these people not understand that they were being asked about the same thing, and why is the Republican party ignoring the fact that nearly a quarter of their constituents actually approve of the law? The second question is a much bigger issue that would require much more time to delve into, so for now let’s focus on the first one. Fox’s Own Poll Proves Its Viewers are Practically Brain-Dead
The major problem with the war over the Affordable Care Act is that there is so much misinformation out there being perpetrated by the Right that everyday citizens are left confused. We’ve reported on the misinformation surrounding the Affordable Care Act many times like here, here, here, here, and here, and that’s just in the past two weeks! And as this poll, and Daily Kos, show even the use of the name ‘Obamacare’ is causing great confusion.  Unfortunately no matter how much the Democrats and the Left try to disseminate the truth and make sure that people truly understand how the law works and what it will mean, the ears of conservatives are closed.
Everyone enjoys it when the sources for their information jive with what they personally feel, but unfortunately too many pundits and people in power on the Right continue to push the misinformation. One might think that something that helps people would be supported in a bipartisan manner, but obviously there is an ulterior motive to their insistence on ignoring the truth and spreading lies. We’ll leave what that motive is alone for another discussion.
However, there is a lesson that can be learned by this.  People who take Fox polls don’t know what they’re talking about, or at least 8% of them don’t.  Think of it this way; if 8% prove that they don’t even know that ACA and Obamacare are the same thing, imagine how many more don’t actually know anything about the law. But don’t waste too much time trying to convince them they’re wrong, you may just end up losing friends over something that they’ll never change their minds about. I wouldn’t be surprised if even after it starts improving their lives that they’re still against it, probably at least 8%.

Cenk Uygur on Conservatives' Reaction to President Obama's Syria Speech

The Young Turks and Cenk Uygur put together a nice mashup of the right wing and Fox pundits' reaction to President Obama's speech on Syria this Tuesday and as Cenk noted, they're really pissed off that they're not going to get their bombing any time soon.
After getting criticism from all sides who did not necessarily agree on whether the United States ought to use air strikes in Syria or not, now that President Obama has given his speech saying he wants to give diplomacy a chance first, the right is all in agreement that it's a reason to attack him, call him weak and claim that his presidency is doomed. It seems the only way these wingers believe we can show we're not weak is by lobbing a few bombs on some more people's heads in the Middle East, because that's what tough guys do, don't ya' know.
Like Uygur, I'm so sick of these Republicans and the fact that the only thing consistent about their policies is that if President Blackenstein (as Bill Maher calls him) is for something, they're going to be against it, even if they were for it a year, or week, or even a day before.
Our government would function a whole lot better if we had some people running it who actually cared about what was good for their constituents who are not part of the one percent instead of governing by sabotage to make a Democratic president look bad, consequences be damned, with this goon squad on Fox cheerleading for them all the way.
